FUNdraiser tonight with my art
I'm very excited to share some fun new pieces of holiday art and some of my previous art (now framed) as part of the Friends and Family Fun Night Fundraiser for Small Solutions Big Ideas on Thursday December 6 at Riverwalk Brewing in Newburyport from opening at 5 PM until closing at 10 PM. The brewery serves a wide variety of craft beer and food for both adults and children.
My friend and teacher Renata Loree invited me to contribute and I'm honored to join in this cause.
There will be games and youth activities for families, an auction including items such as: photography of Africa by Willy Somma, African Masks, an XO Laptop, Kayaking in Casco Bay, Hand printed and designed fabric, “Have You Heard of a Herd” children’s book of animals by local author Barbara Nickerson. There will also be incredible art by Renata Loree, Asia Scudder, and others along with jewelry for sale.
The organization's local Newburyport programs engage and connect youth to their African peers. This is a global generation, we live in a global world. We are encourage the girls in our Kenyan program to step up to leadership roles. We support our emerging generation of youth joining together across borders. Together they begin to address future challenges that we all share.
Small Solutions Big Ideas began with technology and education programs in 2010 in selected African schools. We benefited from the One Laptop Per Child XO laptops, and the availability of cell phones and the internet. We work in Kenyan primary schools providing technology, subsidizing talented teachers to work with us to develop children's creativity, critical thinking and love of learning. Give them a tool and they will do more than you could ever imagine.
We look forward to seeing you all tonight, Thursday, Dec. 6th at Riverwalk Brewery.
