Classes, Inspiration & Growth
What am I doing these days? Well, I just got back from Mexico and visited some great art galleries. We have the band Dervish from Ireland staying with us coming to perform March 2nd and I can't wait. If you are nearby, don't miss this concert!
Most exciting are all the art classes I'm taking and meeting great artists on line for 2019.
I'm learning to sketch faces in Kara Bullock's year-long class on Lets Face it.
I am taking a mix media class with Donna Downey on mixed media flowers. I love her color.
Whimsy and Animals anyone? Micki Wilde known as "The Secret Hermit" is a self-taught mixed media artist from Leicestershire in the U.K. I just love her animals!
Olga Furman's Paint Your Heart and Soul I will get to that.....once Ardith's class is finished.
Ivy Newport's class on Held Captive... again, I'm saving that for once I finish Ardith's class.
My latest exciting class that has just made my day is taught by Ardith Goodwin. I just finished her Distortion of Eyes and Noses and now I am taking the Outrageous Line, and I just love it! Eyes, eyes and more eyes and facial expressions over and over... everyone was so much fun.
I take ongoing classes with Renata Loree and she really helps me to understand to paint what I see, not what I think I see, how to paint and blend in a painterly style. She encourages me to take my time to enjoy the process, which can be a challenge when you are starting out in this style. We paint together and even though our outcomes are very different, the philosophy is not. I just have to keep at it. Thank you Renata for your patience, kindness and time. See her stunning work here.
I'm planning to take a 3-day workshop with Donna Downey on the Simplified Portrait in April, and I'm very excited about going to Ireland in June to study with Ardith Goodwin. I think they have a few spots left! It's called Travel Gather Create with Ardith Goodwin - June 10th to 16th 2019. Why not join me?
